Las aventuras siguen

Oh well hello there.

I am almost at the end of week two, and so much has happened since I last wrote. First off I would like to say that I am right on track with trying to write once a week thank you very much. Academically, I am not being to stressed out at the moment, so I can be online at night, but time will soon tell. haha. Things have been going well, and there has been adventure after adventure. Like I said last time, the week had been really hard, but it got better everyday, and now I feel like my life here is finally settling in. I have a solid group of friends forming, and I have seriously enjoyed getting to know them, and am looking forward to knowing them more, and I will hopefully dive head first into the church down here.

Between classes and learning how to build a life here, I am pretty tired. I have found that I LOVE going all day, and then at night, stoping and resting. It works pretty well for me. I still don’t feel like I have a schedule yet, but I know that in time it will come.

My brain is beginning to get all mixed up between languages. Hahah. I had a hard time the other day trying to write a text message in English. I really had to think. And sometimes when I am talking in English, I’ll switch t spanish, and not even realize it. Oh fun fact!!! If you have the new iphone software, I can text for free over wifi! So if you so desire to get intouch with me that way, you certainly can!!!!

Adventures from this week would include getting a gym membership, figuring out how to get to Carlos Paz, the beach, and back, running all over town looking for a towel and a lock for my gym locker, figuring out the bus system, tearing up my toe from my shoes trying to look nice one night, y muchas otras cosas. I still am nowhere near a spanish genius. very far from that actually. Sometimes native people just look at me weird when I try to ask a question. However the other day when I was putting more money on my bus card, the guy said I had a great accent. Hahaha. It was either I really did have a great accent, or my blonde hair caught his attention, which has happened several times here, and it has been quite hilarious. :) Who knows?

The Lord is teaching me a lot. A lot more than I realized. We are going through my heart and working out a ton of different things. There are two things that I continually keep coming back to. 1. There is only one person that can fully handle the weight of my heart and 2. I am not just here for me. The lord has a will for me here, and his will shall be accomplished. I tend to get to caught up in worrying about small details and relying on myself a lot. Then I end up missing out on what is happening around me. But there is so much to learn, and I am.

I miss my community at berry so much sometimes. I am enjoying it here, and I look forward to what is to come, but its so refreshing to get to hear from you guys. I can’t wait to write more in here. This weekend I am off to Mendoza. I FINALLY GET TO BE IN THE MOUNTAINS!!!!! A little bit of food for my soul you can say. Praise God. :)

Love to all of you. Until next time!!!!

Peace.

As Promised update on mi vida nueva

Hola a todos. No puedo creer que estoy acá finalmente!

Translation: Hey guys! I can’t believe that I am here!

After a super long day of traveling, and not sleeping at all, yes I didn’t sleep at all, I finally made it here. Ok so for all you Georgia people you know exactly what I mean when I say this. IT IS SOOOO FREKIN HOT! No joke. Anywhere you go, you sweat. Just a little humidity would be an understatement. I am all settled in to my house for the most part. Ana, mi madre Argentina, is wonderful! She is super nice an things have gone pretty well so far. I ended up having internet, and so usually in the later part of the day/evening I have some time to jump online. Its funny how I have to remind myself that down time and just chilling out in my room at the house is ok. I don’t have to be doing something with people 24/7. BUTTTTT I have met and gotten to hang out with some wonderful people from my program that actually live very close to where I do. So we have our little traveling group, which is wonderful. We are still very much in the process of learning where everything is, and of course learning the language here. Haha. Some of you may have thought my spanish was pretty good. Sure, I have surprised myself because I haven’t had a choice really yo speak English, but oh my gosh talk about a kick in the butt. hahahahahah. But I know after a few weeks things will get easier.

I won’t lie. The first few days/still this week have been hard. A lot harder than I thought they would be. What I mean is I had expected myself to adjust quickly because I have lived abroad before, and this time I even spoke the language. I was putting way to much pressure on myself. Haha I still do. But in those sad and hard feelings I had experienced I realized that The Lord is the absolute only thing that I can cling to. Nothing else. There have been blessings everywhere, and as its been hard to adjust, I’m not alone in that. Today has been wonderful and last night was great too!!!!

Last night was so wonderful because I had the chance to get to know the girls that I have been talking to down here for months about their ministry and getting involved. We chatted for a while and then went to church. Oh my goodness. How beautiful to worship in Spanish. I still couldn´t understand everything, but I got most of it at times. hahaha. I felt so welcomed by the people there it was insane. I LOVED it. I am sooooooo blessed. I look forward to what that holds and what the Lord wants to do in that. Really excited.

One thing that is a HUGE difference between here and home is how people greet each other, even if they don´t know you. And I felt, especially when I was at church last night, that these people are genuine with who they are, and they love to get to know others. LOVVVEEEEE IT!

So things are getting better everyday. I am so not a city person, but am learning to be. I cannot wait to get the chance to go and check out the Andes and the sierras. That will be my fresh breath of air from the city! haha. And I can´t wait for the fall either. It will finally be cooler.

Well alrighty people. Hope all is well! Send me a message and we can chat!

Peace.
